Michael B. Patchett, CPA Consultant specializes in taxes and pension plans. Mike’s focus is on business planning, tax planning, and tax compliance for corporate, partnership, and individual taxes. Mike’s experience includes large corporations, professional individuals, and small businesses. He has assisted the growth of many clients with the wide spectrum of knowledge he has attained in specialized tax planning. Mike is a native Las Vegan who returned to his hometown after graduating from Brigham Young University in 1984. Glenn L. Goodnough specializes in providing audit and business advisory services and his knowledge extends to the evaluation of the design and implementation of internal controls, safeguarding assets, accounting and auditing of several industries including construction, and many others. He has also provided forensic accounting services for clients in various industries. Glenn received his degree from Brigham Young University in 1990, Glenn has served as an instructor for the CPA Education Association and the Nevada Society of CPAs. He is licensed to practice as a CPA in the state of Nevada and California and is a member of the Nevada Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He served as a member of the executive board of the Nevada Society of Certified Public Accountants and as a member of the task force for evaluating the peer review process for CPAs in the western states from 2001 to 2007. He is also a member of the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans.

Stephanie Sand is the first female partner at Stewart, Archibald & Barney, LLP. She joined the firm in September 1993 and was made partner in January 2002. Stephanie is one of the many seasoned tax professional at the firm and is currently in charge of the firm’s Bookkeeping Department. Sand Graduated from the University of Nevada Las Vegas with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Her past experience in the assurance and strategic financial services has also allowed her to provide internal control and profit enhancement consulting services to several industries. Sand is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Nevada Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the American Women’s Society of CPA’s. Currently Stephanie serves as treasurer on the Board for Baby’s Bounty, a local nonprofit organization. Stephanie enjoys spending her free time with her Husband and 5 children.

Eric A. Johnson joined Stewart, Archibald & Barney, LLP in 1996 and is currently the firm’s Tax Partner. Eric’s responsibilities with the firm include staff supervision, training, quality control and completing complex projects. Eric graduated from Brigham Young University with Bachelor of Science and Masters of Accountancy Degrees with an emphasis in Tax in 1993. He became a CPA in 1996, as quickly as allowed in Nevada. His experience gives him an excellent background in small business advising, corporate, partnership, estate, and individual tax planning and return preparation. Johnson is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Nevada Society of Certified Public Accountants. He is a board member of the Las Vegas Chapter of the BYU Alumni Association as well as a member of the Planned Giving Committee for KLVX Channel 10 (PBS).

Annette Carro was promoted to partner with Stewart, Archibald & Barney, LLP, in January 2007. She specializes in providing assurance and business advisory services. She received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with concentration in Accounting from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 1998, and had eleven years of private industry accounting experience prior to public accounting. Her knowledge extends to the evaluation of internal controls, safeguarding assets, accounting and auditing of several industries including government, health care, finance companies, construction, ERISA employee benefit plans, and other small businesses. She is licensed to practice as a CPA in the State of Nevada and is a member of the Nevada Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Annette is also a member of the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans and the American Society of Women Accountants.

Jeff Breeden - Partner

Jeff A. Breeden was promoted to partner with Stewart, Archibald & Barney, LLP, in January 2009. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with concentrations in both Accounting and Managerial Finance from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 1998. Jeff scored the second highest in Nevada and was a National High Scorer on the Uniform Certified Public Accounting exam administered in May 1999, making him one of the top CPA candidates in the nation. He received his CPA certificate from the state of Nevada in March 2001.

Jeff currently heads up the Business Valuation and Litigation Support Group at Stewart, Archibald & Barney, LLP. In 2002, he obtained the Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) credential from the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts, an association of over 5,000 valuation professionals. He is one of only a few CVA’s in Las Vegas. Working in Business Valuation has given him a depth of knowledge on the true drivers of value in a business enterprise and enables him to offer insightful recommendations and meaningful evaluations of financial data, both historical and projected.

Since joining the firm in 1999, Jeff has worked in all aspects of our practice. His experience ranges from construction contractors’ labor contract compliance to advanced tax issues. This broad range of experience coupled with his academic work in finance and his “can do” attitude make him a valuable member of our team. He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Nevada Society of Certified Public Accountants.

David Mathews - Partner

David B. Mathews Has been with the firm since September1998 and was promoted to partner in January 2010. He is a Magna Cum Laude graduate from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and has been licensed as a CPA in Nevada since 2000. He was promoted to Tax Department Head in the fall of 2010 and has been instrumental in developing that department. David has a broad range of knowledge and experience, specializing in tax return preparation and consulting services for businesses, individuals, and not-for-profit entities. He works closely with clients in the health care, construction, and manufacturing industries to help them achieve their business and personal financial goals. He follows the motto of "begin with the end in mind" as he helps clients navigate complex financial and tax transactions to achieve the desired result. David has extensive knowledge and experience in representing clients before the IRS and assisting them with tax examinations. David is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Nevada Society of Certified Public Accountants. David is active in his church and enjoys being involved in the community. He has served as treasurer for the Las Vegas International Scouting Museum and as treasurer for Family Ties of Nevada Inc., an organization dedicated to assist families with special needs children. Brett K Sellers, CPA, Has over twenty years experience working with businesses and their owners. Brett specializes in working with medical professionals. Brett recognizes the unique concerns of individuals, business owners, executives, families, and closely-held businesses, and takes a personal approach to serving each client. Brett works in collaboration with an extensive network of outside advisors and family wealth specialists including appraisers, attorneys, insurance and investment advisors. Brett is involved in all facets of his clients’ financial lives from consultation on the selection of outside advisors, to business and personal tax planning. Brett’s approach to client service is aggressive problem-solving and making complex solutions simple to understand. Brett has a particular passion for helping businesses reach their potential and serves a CFO role for closely-held business clients. Brett feels strongly that a business cannot achieve long-term success without accurate financial data and a constant measuring of the key activities of the business. Kathy manages a portfolio of clients and assures that client expectations and needs are met. She specializes in accounting and auditing services in several industries including not-for-profit, construction, small businesses, self-insured groups, captives, and ERISA employee benefit plans. She is also familiar with performing financial analysis of insurance companies as a previous insurance regulator with the State of Nevada.

Joseph Langkilde - Tax Manager

Joseph A. Langkilde, CPA, graduated from Arizona State University in May 2002, with a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy. He became licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Nevada in March 2005. Joseph joined our staff in February 2006 and is currently the Tax Department Manager. He has a broad range of experience in the areas of individual, corporate and partnership, not-for-profit, and deferred compensation plan returns. In addition, he also likes assisting clients with their tax planning needs. Joseph has much knowledge and experience in representing clients with IRS audits and correspondence. Joseph is an Eagle Scout and a lifetime member of the National Eagle Scout Association. Alison had five years of public accounting experience before joining the firm. Alison joined Stewart Archibald and Barney in 1997. Her responsibilities include supervising the completion of compliance audits for Taft-Hartley Funds and assisting in the technical and administrative aspects of the department. This requires her to supervise and train staff members, communicate progress of engagements and assist with coordination of the client service efforts of all members of the department. Patrice Reinschmidt graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 1979. She recieved a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration majoring in Accounting. Patrice joined our staff in 1989. She is Manager of our accounting department specializing in internal accounting and management consulting for small businesses. Prior to joining our firm she was employed by the employee benefit plans which administered ERISA benefit plans. Robert Worthen joined our team in the fall of 2007. He is certified in Strategic Performance Management & Measurement. Robert concurrently owned and operated two Las Vegas based corporations for nine years after which he sold his interests and took and extended sabbatical of community service and real estate investing. Robert is a native of Las Vegas and alumni of Las Vegas High School & and Brigham Young University.
